Time management is a key part of success
As a millionaire business coach that helps companies scale from 7 to 8 figures, I’ve developed a few tips of my own.
1. Eat The Same Thing Daily
This is a weird one …because I was a professional chef for many years.
I recently delegated all of my cooking and eating to my full-time maid.
She measures everything and preps the same thing every day for a week.
I vary it a bit, and usually tweak the sauce.
But it’s always the same thing, depending on my goals.
This helps me stay fit and not be distracted by “what am I gonna eat today?”
Currently it looks something like:
8:30am: Breakfast: Scrambled eggs and egg whites, toast, avocado, berries and a bunch of vitamins
1:00pm/2:00pm: Lunch: A tortilla with 200g of chicken breast, tzatziki sauce and cucumber, tomato, onion and lettuce with a bit of feta
6:00pm/7:00pm: Dinner: 200g of very lean beef cooked in onions and spices with a bit of rice and boiled broccoli and carrots, often topped with guacamole.
Snacks: Iced americanos or matcha lattes with low-fat milk a bit of simple syrup
I’m a man of routine…but I definitely indulge here and there with my girlfriend when we go out to dinners in Dubai.
2. Sleep And Wakeup At The Same Time Daily
A good routine sets me up for success.
Lately, it’s to be asleep by 10:00pm and wake up at 6:00am.
I get 7-7.5 hours of quality sleep, all tracked on my Whoop.
Also, I try to shut off electronics at least 1 hour before I sleep.
My routine involves taking a nice, relaxing shower and writing in my 5-minute journal about the 3 highlights of my day and what I learned.
When I wake up, I like to go on a walk within 15 minutes.
I just grab a water, put on some sunscreen and head to my favorite coffee shop, Arabica, that’s open 24/7 in JBR.
It helps me get in 5,000 steps before 7:00am, which is when I workout with my trainer.
So far, my body has been LIKING this routine…and when I go to bed too late…life is just a bit less exciting the next day.
Happiness truly comes from a good nights sleep
3. Work From Home Most Of The Week
I have an office setup with an external monitor.
My desk is clean, because it’s just a keyboard, mouse and my To-do list next to a glass of water.
I work at cafes occasionally, but 80% of my work week is at home.
I think it helps me stay focused.
I enjoy a new ambiance sometimes, especially when getting creative.
But overall, I recommend a stand up desk, a good chair, and not much clutter.
4. Have Dedicated Days For Key Activities
Mondays are always my meeting day. I try to stack all of my meetings then, so Tues-Fri are fairly free.
I have dedicated “Focus” days to getting key tasks done that I enjoy, like writing this blog post, or training key staff.
I also have “free” days where I don’t work at all on anything related to business. I might do other productive tasks, but I try to maintain some boundaries.
The system of “Buffer,” “Focus” and “Free” days I got from Strategic Coach.
Buffer is work that must be done to run the system, like emails or meetings.
Focus is work that grows and expands, like taking sales consultation calls or creating content.
Free is a non-work day to connect with key relationships, like my girlfriend, as well as friends.
5. I Only Do 3-5 KEY To-Do Items Every Day.
On a 3×5 postcard, I write down the most important activities that I have to get done to have a successful day.
I carry this card with me the whole day, wherever I go.
Today it says:
- Walk 15,000 steps
- Stretch 25 minutes
- Write 2 blog posts
- Work for 30 minutes on my main goal
- Turn off all electronics for the last 1.5 hours of my day.
These are all related to my health and business goals.
If it’s any more than 5 items, there’s a very high chance they won’t get done.
Write down 3 things to get done today that will soon become habits.
Once it becomes a habit, you can move on to the next key task.
But don’t do more than 5.
Trust me!
Every time I write 7-10 to-do items, I feel discouraged.
Plus I want to keep promises to myself!
I’ve grown my US service-based company from $0 to $12+ million in annual revenue with a great team and great margins so I only work 8 hours a month while living in Dubai.
